he Serum We Recommend for Pigmentation: 9 Active Ingredients That Actually Work

Struggling with pigmentation that just won’t budge?

Whether it’s from sun damage, hormones, breakouts, or simply time, pigmentation is one of the most frustrating and common skin concerns we see.

And while there’s no shortage of products promising to fade dark spots or even skin tone, many of them fall short, either because they only contain one or two actives, or because their ingredient combinations just don’t work well together.

That’s exactly why we created Luminosity Revive & Refine Serum.

Why is Luminosity different?

Luminosity isn’t just another brightening serum. It was developed by leading Australian dermatologist Dr Katherine Armour to simplify treatment for stubborn skin concerns like pigmentation, congestion, dullness and uneven skin tone.

Instead of layering multiple serums and hoping they don’t clash, Luminosity brings together nine dermatologist-selected active ingredients in one smart, stable, and barrier-friendly formula.

What’s inside? A breakdown of the 9 actives

Each ingredient has been selected for both its individual benefit and how it works alongside the others. Here’s what makes this formula so effective:

1. Bakuchiol

A gentle, plant-based alternative to retinol. Helps improve firmness, texture and tone without irritation.

2. Astaxanthin

One of the most powerful antioxidants available, 65x stronger than Vitamin C in it’s antioxidant ability. Repairs UV damage and improves clarity.

3. Lactic Acid

A gentle alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that exfoliates, hydrates and fades pigmentation.

4. Lime Pearl Extract

A natural source of AHAs that boosts exfoliation and encourages healthy cell turnover.

5. Niacinamide

Helps reduce pigmentation, strengthen the skin barrier and calm inflammation.

6. Hyaluronic Acid

Deeply hydrates the skin, improves elasticity and supports skin bounce.

7. Green Tea Extract

Soothes the skin and helps protect against oxidative stress and inflammation.

8. Resveratrol

A potent polyphenol antioxidant that supports brightness and defends against environmental damage.

9. Licorice Root Extract

Naturally helps lighten pigmentation and calm redness.

How to use Luminosity:

When:
Start by using Luminosity serum 2-3 times a week at night on clean, dry skin. If your skin handles this okay, then you can eventually work up to using it each night.

Step-by-step:

  1. Double cleanse (especially if wearing makeup or SPF)

  2. Apply 1–2 pumps of Luminosity across the face and neck

  3. Wait 30 seconds

  4. Follow with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser (such as CeraVe or Avene)

What not to use with Luminosity:

Because this serum already includes multiple active ingredients, there’s no need to combine it with other strong treatments. In fact, doing so may reduce effectiveness or cause irritation.

Avoid using at the same time as:

  • Vitamin C serums

  • Retinol or retinal

  • Glycolic acid or salicylic acid toners

  • Benzoyl peroxide or abrasive acne treatments

If you’re using a retinol or Vitamin C and still want to include Luminosity in your routine, use them on alternate nights or email us at admin@localhost and we will be able to help.

How long until you see results?

Most users report improvement in skin tone and texture within a couple of weeks, with more noticeable changes in pigmentation and clarity after 6–8 weeks of consistent use. However, keep in mind that pigmentation is a long-term game and it can take months to see results. We always recommend taking before and after images.

Because Luminosity is balanced with barrier-supportive ingredients, it’s suitable for long-term use and gentle enough for ongoing maintenance.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Luminosity was formulated to be pregnancy-safe and breastfeeding-safe, making it ideal for those looking for effective pigmentation support without the risks that come with retinol or strong acids.

Who should use Luminosity?

Luminosity is ideal for anyone experiencing:

  • Hyperpigmentation or melasma

  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation from acne

  • Uneven skin tone or bumpy texture

  • Fine lines or early signs of ageing

  • Dull, tired-looking skin

  • Skin that’s sensitive to retinol or Vitamin C

It’s also an excellent option for those who want a one-step solution rather than a 6-product routine.

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to skincare, but Luminosity is as close as it gets to a comprehensive solution for pigmentation and skin refinement.

Whether you’re looking for something pregnancy-safe, wanting to reduce layering, or finally ready to address your pigmentation properly…. this serum was made for you.
